- Comment on Ways of designing intimacy in games - GameDeveloper 1 year ago:
Not to the same degree.
- Comment on Ways of designing intimacy in games - GameDeveloper 1 year ago:
So, your opinion is that any and all violent content is never a concern, and is appropriate for any age, even small children?
“So YoUr OpInIoN iS” shut up lol. I didn’t say that. I just said violence is much different than sexuality, and thats reflective of how society treats the two topics in media.
- Comment on Ways of designing intimacy in games - GameDeveloper 1 year ago:
Sex is so much different than violence. Sexuality is something is developed over the life of a person and can be heavily influenced by early exposure. Where violence isn’t spurred on by video games (unless you are one of the boomers complaining that video games cause violence) because shooting people isn’t a part of normal life.
- Comment on Ways of designing intimacy in games - GameDeveloper 1 year ago:
Sure but what does that have to do with what I said?
- Comment on Ways of designing intimacy in games - GameDeveloper 1 year ago:
No, I just don’t want needless sex in my games. I don’t care to make it illegal or anything but I’m speaking out that I do not enjoy sexuality in video games and think if that’s something people desire, they can find that sort of content elsewhere.
- Comment on Ways of designing intimacy in games - GameDeveloper 1 year ago:
Continuous exposure to sexual content throughout childhood can have significant effect on their sexuality later in life. I don’t think the same thing is true for shooting games.
- Comment on Ways of designing intimacy in games - GameDeveloper 1 year ago:
Having sex is probably something you will do in your life, mass murder is not.
I would say this exactly why one topic is more sensitive than the other. No one goes around killing aliens with ray guns, so there really isn’t much to emulate there. Whereas sex appeals to our biology and on young impressionable children, it could have significant impact on them to be continuously exposed to it through media.
- Comment on Ways of designing intimacy in games - GameDeveloper 1 year ago:
“No one should make content that I don’t personally approve of” is one that I would categorize as worthy of criticism.
Who said no one can make content if it has sex in it? People are just saying they don’t like it and everyone is sperging out about how children should see sexual content because they also see violence.
- Comment on Ways of designing intimacy in games - GameDeveloper 1 year ago:
Do you consider masterbation sex? because uhh it isn’t
- Comment on Ways of designing intimacy in games - GameDeveloper 1 year ago:
Unironically yes. Pornography appeals to our monkey brain in a way that violence doesn’t. Violence in media is just an expression of conflict.
- Comment on Ways of designing intimacy in games - GameDeveloper 1 year ago:
Do you recognize that some people may have different values than your own and it’s ok for them to strive towards upholding them? You are not losing anything in life by not having pornographic scenes in video games.
- Comment on Ways of designing intimacy in games - GameDeveloper 1 year ago:
Why is it sad? Some people want sex to be a private thing that individuals do outside of the public eye. Not everyone is a coomer who wants to revolve their life around sexuality. Just because people have different values than you doesn’t make it sad.

We’re talking about ex theatre majors, not people who work in media. I went to a college with a renowned theatre program and I can say first hand that they are easily the most insufferable people of any major. I’ll admit that has colored my opinion quite a bit. The entertainment industry is notoriously nepotistic and the only people from my class that had success were those with rich dads who were connected in the entertainment scene. This breeds contempt amongst them and it’s palpable when you are hanging out with them.
- Comment on But I wanted to be somebody famous! 1 year ago:
there is a reason, theatre majors are annoying and contribute very little to society.
- Comment on But I wanted to be somebody famous! 1 year ago:
then whats your point? pretty sure you know what it means
- Comment on But I wanted to be somebody famous! 1 year ago:
theatre majors are the most annoying people on earth and I will hold firm on that statement

its way worse on mastodon. if you want proof do to mastodon.social/explore and look around
- Comment on "The "fediverse" is the future of social media" 1 year ago:
The current userbase of Mastodon are the most self righteous fart sniffers of old twitter. hopefully this will improve over time but half the content is complaining about twitter and how much better their little circlejerk of a community is.

Consensus does not mean something is true or even accurate. Plenty of historical examples of this.
- Comment on I believe science but I don't understand science. Does that make me religious? 1 year ago:
Yes there is. Plenty of experiments require millions to billions of dollars in capital to make the same observations that you are trusting scientists to be honest about. This is a cope take. There is plenty of blind trust in the way the general public understands science.
- Comment on I believe science but I don't understand science. Does that make me religious? 1 year ago:
How can anyone possibly produce meaningful results on something that requires billions of dollars of capital to do so?

so do you disagree with the original post?

wait until this place hears that killing babies is bad as an objective moral truth
- Comment on Open for discussion 1 year ago:
Can you imagine what would happen if the criteria for getting away from a cop after a crime is just “drive fast for a little bit”? Can you imagine the chaos then? The issue is that there’s no distinct line between chasing a criminal and becoming a high speed chase. Are cop cars not allowed to pursue fleeing criminals at all? Just if they’re all going the speed limit? But the moment they go over the cops have to bail? Sure, maybe they should lean into drone technology more, but I really dislike the idea of letting criminals get away, as it will simply inspire more criminal. I believe the amount of carjackings would skyrocket if getting away was as easy as driving fast.
You can disagree with me all you want but there’s a lot more to this topic and there’s a reason why cops chase down criminals in nearly every country.
- Comment on Open for discussion 1 year ago:
My opinion was “no I don’t think we should let criminals get away because of a freak accident”. It’s not that serious, I saw a post on my frontpage and I commented on it. boo fucking hoo, you’re pretending like my relatively milquetoast opinion is some moral failing.
- Comment on Open for discussion 1 year ago:
do you understand how ridiculous you sound
- Comment on Open for discussion 1 year ago:
I’m not complaining about people disagreeing with me, I’m complaining about people wishing death upon me. And to be honest, I don’t really care, but I think the fact that people are willing to stoop that low over simple differences in opinion is demonstrative of the quality of person I’m dealing with. I’m just a dude who has some opinions that would only be controversial on a place as terminally online as Lemmy, who are often completely consumed by the culture war nonsense who believe any criticism of your own side means you are supporting the other.
You seem like a heartless and knowingly thoughtless person who feels entitled to be heard but not to listen or abide by norms, complaining of the wounds others have put upon you but silent about your own transgressions.
Get a grip on yourself. This line is hilarious when you consider the context of a disagreement in a comment section.
- Comment on Open for discussion 1 year ago:
This all seems like excuses to justify someone wishing death upon another person. Btw, this showed up on the frontpage, and I’m not going to read the novel of rules for every single subreddit (or whatever the lemmy equivalent is) I participate in. Although they do have the right to ban me (which they did and I’m not complaining).
tl;dr wishing death upon other commenters is fine as long as they are posting something that is disagreeable

lemmy.world/comment/3879109 here is the comment wishing death upon me.
I’ll keep searching for the one that threatened to hack me and dox me as a pedophile who raped kids. It actually wasn’t in either of the two threads mentioned, it was another thread.
