- Comment on What is the difference between an American liberal and a liberal outside the USA? 1 week ago:
It’s wild to me that almost everyone seems to be mixing up classical liberalism and neoliberalism to a some significant degree; two wildly different paradigms only related by name. The former is defined by the freedom of the individual, the latter by the freedom of markets. The conflation of the two is wildly good marketing from the neolibs.
Liberal philosophers John Stuart Mill and Harriet Taylor Mill were massive advocates for the abolition of slavery, women’s equality, free speach, worker cooperatives, inheritance tax, etc.
The father of neolibrolism Milton Friedman believed in unfettered free markets, minimal government, deregulation and monetarism (influencing the economy through the supply of money)

And watch The Lost Room, a 3 episode mini series that came out in 2006 and must be the inspiration for Control.

The game was basically finished too. It was never released because of a pay dispute. The beginning of the Bethda heel turn.

I hope they’re looking at Tactical Breach Wizard as inspiration now too. It’s obviously inspired by Into the Breach and it’s masterful.

The first game I played that really wanted to talk about racism and it decided to spend it’s time saying is “black people can be bad too”. I didn’t think much of it then and I don’t now.

I fuckin love that film though. The Rock’s best performance. The brief moment of transphobia can fuck right off though.
- Comment on The disturbing online misogyny of Gamergate has returned – if it ever went away 1 year ago:
Defensive much? I find myself being very suspicious of this opposing narrative. I’m not up to speed on this these days, but I remember Keza MacDonald being generally outstanding in her betrayal of events in video games culture.

It’s highly likely, but the getting there is definitely worth it. The game is half the story though. It feels like it stops in the middle, albeit after a significant enough plot point to give you some satisfaction. The game is incredible though and I’d definitely take that version over nothing at all.
