Good, now make the engine open source Ike Carmack did for Doom 3 🤪
/s it will never happen as this game, although being great, is full of proprietary frameworks/3rd party libs.

Yes the first dives in Dave the Diver are wonderful with the beautiful pixel art.
But I found this game deeply disturbing: you kill the most fish possible to make the most money possible, but not the dolphins because they are cute. I found this game is a perfect symbol of the overproductivism of our era, while the earth is dying. I know it’s just a game, but the fact the game creator are not even aware of the philosophy their game is carrying, left a bitter taste in my mouth.
And yeah, the game is full of FOMO even in their dlcs, and the huge amount of collabs with other overly popular game make me think, in the end, it’s a pure marketing vessel. An it’s fake indie !

Dave the diver DLC is limited in time AND not free…Ouch ! I am glad I have lost interest in the game :)
I am playing 3 games in parallel:
- Battlefield 4. Discovered only 2 months ago. The game is 10 years old and the server have, at best, only 2000 people in it😂. But the game is great and achievements hunting is fun, fast fast before the servers close !
- Control. It feels like “x-files, the game”. It’s mysterious, confusing and after all enjoyable. The art direction and the fights are great.
- Gris, my small game for the evening. Not really started but it’s the replacement for my previous small game The Gardens Between which was …ok. Enjoyable and short.

At first I found achievements a bit ridiculous, like in the old days at school where you received an image if you did good.
In the meantime, some smart achievements forced me out of my play style and made me try things I would never had the idea of trying. Those are the best achievements for me. The game with such achievements that triggered the achievement crazyneness of mine was Trine 2 😁

Thanks I’ll have a look.
Unfortunately, my personal curse is the love of achievements 😅, and heroic support of them with GOG is still a little bit lacking. But with the new comet support with overlay in heroic, hopefully it will change soon.

Thanks for the really interesting mish mash of information 😁
You are a Linux gamer with a love for GOG. May I ask how are you accessing GOG games on Linux/Steam Deck: Lutris? Heroic?

I played GTA from GTA 1 to GTA 4. I have always been more interested by the story rather than the free roaming.
What I can say about them:
- 1 and 2 : a revolution. Being so mean and bad was cathartic for me, it was really mind blowing as I am a “too nice” guy
- gta 3 : a revolution. Discovering the game on the PS2 of a friend, I was drooling over the beautiful 3D models, the music, everything. I had to wait a bunch of time to get it on PC though.
- Vice City : wonderful atmosphere, the colours, the music. The story over the top. My favourite.
- San Andreas: not bad. The missions were interesting, but I felt no connection with the “boys in the hood” atmosphere. At the time, I listened very few hip hop so the whole gangsta rap hype was not interesting to me. -GTA 4: I liked the settings, “russian immigrants”. The campaign was cool. However all the rest felt a chore… The mandatory mini games with the gangster calling you every 10 minutes and being angry if I don’t go bowling with him was ridiculous. Then I gave up GTA all together. To be frank, I was a bit fed up with the American settings. Always the same street, atmosphere, culture… On the other hand, other games like Sleeping Dogs were a breath of fresh air. You really feel in another environment, and something as simple as driving left on the road is a great change.

Thanks :)
I had the same problem with Dead Cells: I could finish the game once, but impossible to continue with the Boss Cells activated. Thankfully, they introduced an “Assist Mode” with a later patch and I managed to continue playing.

I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the world. However the difficulty made me drop the game at the half of it. Since I turned 40, I play games to relax not to rage on bosses. Therefore altogether, a bit of pity I couldn’t see the end.

Yeah you’re right. This statement was intended for me.
Everyone can of course play what they want.

+100, my feelings exactly.
I am now 45. I tried Deadlock, was overwhelmed, some other player told me to “fuck off” through the vocal chat because I was in the wrong lane, I uninstalled.
Generally, I don’t have time anymore to play online games that are about grind and skill. I don’t want to play only one sort of game. I want a game with an end so that I can move to another one.
MOBAs were cool at the time of warcraft 3. Let’s move on.

I looks wonderful!
I am a Pogo player and I hate having to stay looking at the phone, under the rain or with cold hands or bloody sun 😂
You write “no mtx, no ads”. How do you plan to monetize your app ? Will it be a one time payment or with DLCs?
