Ever since Trudeau created the Emergency to allow him to seize the bank accounts of protesters, word of a bank run has been spreading online. Today, tweets from a range of accounts show branches and ATMs closing due to "emergency" as well as online services being down.

No, I just run a tight ship. Trying to get my mortgage paid off ASAP before rates inevitably reset, and much of any excess money goes into paying down debts or making investments because there's no chance I'm letting cash sit and shrink to 7.5% inflation.
Wow, does that mean that Canadians banks are effectively freezing everyone's bank accounts and not just a few? Can you still make internet payments?
Internet banking was down across the board yesterday. Legally they can freeze even people with the wrong opinion, aka "Trump supporters", that's what the Justice Minister said on TV.

Still lots of crowd sourced places to find first hand reports. Reddit, sort Twatter hashtags by latest not top to filter for first hand accounts. Check prominent canadian accounts. For example, Lauren Southern tried today and said that ATMs in her areas had been disabled.

I checked the US FED. From 2020, they set reserve requirement to 0 at start of pandemic. ( https://www.federalreserve.gov/monetarypolicy/reservereq.htm ). Canada abolished its reserve requirement in 92, so they are also at 0.
In 2008, Wachovia, 4th largest bank in US was killed by a 1% withdrawal of deposits, IndyMac by a 7.5% withdrawal, Washingto Mutual by 9%. In those days, FED had a larger reserve requirement.
But today with 0% reserve.... the threshold for bankruptcy should be lower, depending on how much cash each bank has kept.

I was helping one of my sons get his dough out of one few hours ago. One of his mates' dad is an RBC boss.
I wouldn't touch Canadian banks or businesses now. If Canadians insist on voting for idiots like Trudeau and the NDP, they can pay the economic price for it. They need to learn as a nation: go woke, go broke.
