Media outlets who misrepresent experts should be sued. We need a legal precedent that anyone can sue them over it, not just the person they're lying about (who usually don't have the time or money to do anything), like what the Free Software Conservancy is trying to establish for violations of open source licenses.

Yeah definitely, I think you could make a good case for libel and defamation. Once a legal precedent was set then propagandists would have to be a lot more careful.
