Ran into this post yesterday and saw that Lemmy.world is federated with Threads (dot) net.

Is there any plan to remove threads from Lemmy.world’s federated list?

If not, I understand that is Lemmy.world’s decision.

    It seems unlikely that Meta will federate with Lemmy. When/if Meta adopts ActivityPub, it will likely affect Mastodon only rather than Lemmy, given Meta’s focus on being a Twitter alternative at the moment.

As far as I can tell, lemmy.world is configured to federate with a blocklist instead of an allowlist. Threads is on lemmy.world’s list of linked instances because lemmy automatically links unblocked instances. The admins haven’t blocked threads, but they haven’t actively added threads either.

Lemmy.world is taking an approach of waiting and seeing, which is reasonable at this point.
