  Okay, sure, the divisive narrative is effective and everyone should be vigilant regarding any such language. On the other hand, my own Conservative immigrant mother is a glowing example of… all of it. I won’t bore y’all with galling “I pulled myself up with my own bootstraps” illusory truth effect of which she’s convinced herself. But this mindset is pervasive and durable. It seems almost deterministic among Strict Father Model people that they can’t see how they stand on the shoulders of giants.

  I’d sure love to hear any ideas anyone might have in undermining this self-dialogue that people use on themselves.

  The reason you will never hear a working class conservative complain about the billionaire class screwing them is because conservatives have always been the foot-soldiers of the billionaire class.

  If not for conservatives, the normal people would be permitted to charge billionaires with crimes, force them to pay proper taxes, make them pay fair wages. If not for conservatives, the normal people would be able to unionize and to protest. Without conservatives, workers would have mandatory sick time, mandatory time off, protections from wage theft and protections from improper dismissal.

  The boss cannot be defeated until his foot-soldiers are dead.

  Funny (in a sadly unintentionally ironic way) that the two responses this has gotten so far are both examples of how seductive and effective it is…

  It’s not a coincidence that Machiavelli outlined the divide and conquer strategy 500 years ago. It was and still is one of the simplest and most effective ways psychopathic shitstains can hold onto power in the face of what would otherwise be wholly deserved condemnation and opposition.
