The wealthy live by different rules, even when they’re known criminals, amd especially when they’re friends woth criminals in office.
Before Piddy went to jail why didn't the government seize all of his assests? Apparently he's living like a king in prison.

I couldn’t say for sure, but I don’t believe everything was seized. Anything that couldn’t directly be connected to criminal activity wouldn’t have been touched. Then there’s whatever was hidden away in offshore accounts.
This is also without considering how much more blatant politicians are with their own criminal activity in recent memory. Back in 1992, when Gotti went down, the biggest problem with the US president was he was a warhound. In present day, POTUS is a known criminal several times over and is walking free.
