  The BBC trying to tarnish the legitimacy of the independence movements I see, by implying some untoward connection to Russia.

  They’re either fools being played by Lavrov or, as is more likely the case considering their history, they’re actively trying to influence politics on behalf of Westminster and getting in the way of democracy.
