    This isnt a surprise.

    When i was in the police it was all but impossible to solve a crime involving simple theft from a car.

    It’s probably easier now as CCTV is far more common, but generally unless someone saw it happening our chances of catching the perpetrator were essentially zero. It is one of the easiest crimes to get away with

      The article is about thefts of vehicles, not thefts from vehicles.

        Yeah totally misread it.

        No explanation in that case except it must be the work of organised criminals who are able to export the vehicles pretty quickly.
