*No one is supposed to control the strait. Per international maritime law, ships are not supposed to be subject to sovereignty as long as they are just “passing through,” and that only extends 12 miles out from the border of Iran.
Iran did not ratify the law, they are not bided by it. The straight will be controlled by both Oman and Iran . The straight is only 24 miles meaning that there is no international water and the ships can’t avoid entering Oman or Iran. Not to mention that blockade can be justifiable against enemy countries under self defense and national security. Europe had illegal sanctions for years on Iran missile program because Iran has a right like any other country to develop it’s military capabilities under the right of self defense
Yep. But a lot of people do things they aren’t supposed to do. Iran wasn’t supposed to develop nuclear weapons. Israel wasn’t supposed to commit war crimes. Hamas wasn’t supposed to rape people.
Unfortunately, “you’re not supposed to do that” doesn’t have very much bearing on autonomous or semi-autonomous states and entities.
I hope not. But only time will tell.
The west is trying to destroy Iran’s economy.

Europe will do nothing but talk and try to guide discussions because it has no real weight to throw around.
I am not saying this to be a Debbie Downer. It’s just a fact that they are the junior powers to the US, and Trump has made it very clear that their input will be ignored and any attempt for them to leverage the US would be met with a disproportional response.
