Holy shit. “Junior Rates”? Wtaf? Equal work for equal pay, assholes. I mean, good on ’em for improving things for those 18 and up, but still. This is right up there with paying intellectually disabled people less because reasons.
The downside is that if you can hire a 26 year old for the same price as a 16 year old, why would a business hire a 16 year old? Where’s the incentive to let kids into the workforce?
Lots of fast food restaurants and supermarkets hire teens in places where they have to be paid the same as everyone else. Being young doesn’t make one incompetent, just inexperienced. And there are lots of older inexperienced people as well.
