It might lead to us being able to get AI datacenter level GPUs to run our own models on for relatively cheaply as ewaste. Wouldn’t that be cool?
That won’t happen. The chips themselves are useful for loads of industrial applications and the infrastructure itself is nontrivial.
Relatively cheap would still be tens of thousands of dollars.

I’m just hoping for semiconductor prices to come down, but open source models getting better and having better hardware is a win in my book.
The hardware is generally extremely custom and licensed to high hell with specific locked firmware. It will be ewaste if the bubble crashes. You won’t be running anything like this in your house and it’s very unlikely the producers will take any steps to remove the locks on the hardware even if it were designed to be compatible with consumer grade utilities and infrastructure.
Well let’s hope talented members of the community are able to write some custom drivers and crack the firmware. Wouldn’t be the first time people have had to crack firmware to get obscure high end obsolete hardware working.
If you think you can do it bro, but I’ve been in the industry long enough to know where this shit goes and it ain’t to second hand use. You’re ignoring so many aspects beyond just the firmware, I mentioned the infrastructure as well. A single Blackwell 2u draws 14.3Kw you’re not installing that in your fuckin’ home.
Will they improve pornography?
Very likely it will, Corporate AI and just corporate companies are prudish and restrictive, and Open source AI models don’t have any such limitations, so yes AI generated pornography will improve with better access to hardware and big tech companies no longer making AI models.

It depends on what you mean by improve.
They will povot them to offer remote application solutions you will own nothing and you.will like it.
That’s what they think and hope is going to happen. I’m hoping (and optimistic) consumers can stay furious and resourceful longer than they can stay solvent. Once the bigger bubbles start popping, that will almost certainly become true.
