The committee is both parties, with the majority party having the ability to ensure no hearings take place if they want… Which they did. The point of such was obviously because they didn’t want anyone trying to be swayed into thinking war was bad. The Democrats couldn’t force the vote to happen sooner than it did, Kaine forced it to happen as only 1 member of Congress has to call it, and after that it is irrelevant if any more call for it, as it is already set to occur.
At No point could Kaine or the Democrats in the committee said let’s have this vote tomorrow. It was going to wait 10 days unless the Republicans on the comitee wanted otherwise, and every Republican on the comitee voted the same way.
