Stephen Colbert and James Talarico are claiming that the FCC is using their rules to prevent James Talarico from speaking on The Late Show w/ Stephen Colbert because he is critical of President Trump.
This was a pretty clever trick, which I almost applaud for its brilliance, because it's convincing even though it's not true. Regardless, I decided to share with you guys the actual FCC rules regarding political programming. The interview likely would have violated the Equal Time Rule if aired, because James Talarico is a political candidate, and his opponent was not interviewed and given the chance for equal time.
