But when I landed in Minneapolis on Monday and saw the size, scope and lawlessness of the federal onslaught unfolding here, I understood that Good’s killing was emblematic of its true mission: to stage a spectacle of cruelty upon a city that stands in stark defiance of Trump’s dark vision of America.

Honestly, I’m so proud of the ordinary Minnesotans standing up and fighting back in response to this spectacle. This is what the resistance looks like, and it will only grow the longer Trump continues this.

A civil war where only one side is threatening/attacking the other

I think when people say the civil war never really ended, they’re right. It’s just been mostly a cold war for a few decades.

It’s so crazy to me that there are patterns of asymmetric war (like The Troubles, which lasted 30 years), and the media always go back to full “civil war” because it drives clicks.

As a longtime foreign correspondent, I have covered civil wars in countries across the globe

When all you visit is civil war, everything looks like civil war.

and a heavy machine gun slung by his side.

OK, I can’t take journalists seriously when they think an M-4 is a “heavy machine gun”. JFC, at least know the terms before you report on armed invaders.
