No, it isn't. Unless that state has the best interests of UK citizens at heart, I guess.
Considering TOR was originally a CIA project, I wouldn’t be completely surprised if Signal was funded by a secret agency too.
Am I missing something in the thought process here? Surely removing encryption just makes the entire UK uniquely vulnerable to having their messages read not just by UK intelligence but anyone. It doesn’t make any sense.

As a sign of good will all politicians will make all of communication public starting today. That includes private and personal matters as well as all conversations with donors, party members and all government bodies and officials.

This has to be the standard response to these sorts of claims. I would love to see a Labour MP try to respond to this on Question Time for example.
