Bryn notes that the High Street in Kingswinford is numbered by the distance from one end of the road in metres. They have still kept odd and even numbers on opposite sides of the road.
This is the only sane way to number houses, and 10’s of metres for rural roads:
In Town: 120 Highstreet would be 120m from the start of the road, and 125 would be on the other side of the road (Left being odd numbers)
Rural: 512 would be 5.12km from the start of the road
