I thought they would have done this years ago, always blew me away that they allowed linking from other sites in the first place. Anyone not seeing this coming didn’t think about it much and I really hope that no one actually relies on this working.

Ok, but who in their right mind would host anything on a chat platform, especially as you have to pay 3€/month for 25+MB files and 10€/month for 50+MB. Literally renting a server yourself and hosting all files on there with a limit of 1 TB is cheaper.

The size limit doesn’t really matter for 90% of images, which is what people probably used this for.

Well, screenshots of my desktop in 4k as png are sometimes pretty large, depending on what is displayed of course. And if it also includes my two side monitors it does grow over 25MB easily.
