Agreed.
Its particularly difficult because tourists likely aren’t packing for extreme weather and probably don’t know about emergency equipment like a PLB. Even though I overheat when I do my rogaining competition in winter. I still carry thermals and multiple layers + a thermal blanket in case I was stuck out in the cold with no easy way back to camp.
Its difficult to warn people not from Australia about how quickly conditions can change and why it’s important to pack well.

PLB is a good idea but like you stated earlier, I prefer to go prepared to stay safe; warm, cool, hydrated, dry. My kids get annoyed that I make them take extra stuff even on short walks but I don’t want to have to rely on someone else rescuing us.
