    Am I missing something here? The Blackbird came out in 66, so I Star Wars in 77…are they saying it influenced the latter, or, did the star tracking come out after the movie?

      ‘That was affectionately dubbed “R2-D2” after the Star Wars movie came out in 1977’

      I read it as once the film was released the star tracking was then nicknamed R2.
