    From the article:

the club won’t just meet to discuss ideas. We would take action on those ideas and report the results the next time we meet–I think once a week would be a good frequency. Thanks to soared on HackerNews who pointed out that the idea of this club still seemed focused on thinking rather than acting. The idea had been running around in my head for a few days so I missed specifying this because by now it felt obvious to me–I didn’t notice the same won’t be true for the reader

Yeah. This is the shit. Before kids I tried to act on my convictions. I volunteered. I bought Fair Trade Certified stuff (when stuff was necessary). And I tried to make my community better. Since kids, I’ve gotten a moral dad bod.

I really appreciate the idea of trying to be overt about ideas. Most of us are old enough to have settled on our beliefs, so it makes sense to act on them when possible.

This post also introduced me to en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plogging 🤣

    Holy fucking shit:

I think we overvalue thinking and undervalue taking action on that thinking. It’s easy to discuss ideas, which is one reason I think I’ve done so much of it and used to find it appealing.

    Let’s gooooooooooo:

I don’t want to derive pleasure from “having an opinion.” I want to be hopeful and action-oriented, but not idealistic and closed to discussion. I don’t want the mere discussion of ideas to give me satisfaction.
