The reason that all these social media companies have to grow or die is because they monetized and capitalized and speculate on the futures for what is normal-ish human behavior: sharing ideas , photos with friends etc , And once fully saturated ,short of creating enough new human bodies to keep that previous growth up, which is not happening, so they don’t grow anymore.
New tech comes out users go to that. They die.
Fediverse / ActivityPub has no ads. When people realize this. They will flee these techno oligarch sites.
