I (24) went to one of my local restaurants in my city. I have been there numerous times and know the menu by heart, but I usually order a takeaway.

Today I decided to eat in the restaurant, so I ordered a salad. When ordering the waiter stood there for 30 seconds, before asking me:“Are you sure? Our salad has pork in it. Maybe I can offer you another one of them.“

I was surprised and said that I am aware and still want the salad. I am a British-Pakastani woman, but I am by no means a Muslim. He replied with „If you’re sure“ and gave me my salad. I sat there for 45 minutes and ate other things, but I decided to not leave a tip, even though in America it‘s expected to.

The waiter got visibly angry at me and asked why I denied him a tip, even though he gave me good service. I said I did not appreciate him racially profiling me and assuming my religion. He called me dramatic and ridiculous, stating that he‘s met many others that look like me and get angry when he serves them pork. I said Iwas not one of them and left while he fumed.

I thought about this some more, and his reasoning. I need to know- AITA?
