I looked into Huginn but development stalled, so I ended up going with n8n.
Huginn is a self-hosted, open-source alternative to IFTTT and Zapier

Same here. I tried Huginn like 4 times but it’s always easier to write my own python code instead. N8N really saved the day.

I don’t think n8n is free? That may be why?
Also, lol at Huginn docs reference connecting to things like Hipchat(RIP) and Twitter

The least related thing possible to say but I looooove the name. Wonder what muninn would be? Probably some kind of self hosted cloud backup service.

Like the author of that post, I had never heard about Huginn until just now, but when IFTTT went down the shitter for me (around 2018) was about the same time I started using Home Assistant. I found that HA had every one of the service connections available that I used to use through IFTTT, so I naturally just re-implemented all of my flows as automations. HA has only added capabilities since those earlier days. It’s not just for “home” automation.
If you’re interested in more graphical representations of your automations, HA can have NodeRed as a plug-in.

Not sure why anyone uses anything else at this point. HomeAssistant is incredible, and still very actively developed.
