Hi all,
I’ll be honest, I love this community, but I’ve been frustrated with moderation lately. I love that I’ve found such an active community, and I participate a lot here, but a lot of posts I want to talk about are getting removed.
For example, why was the post about Alexander removed? I was honestly really excited to talk about that, I thought I was alone in thinking Wesley was a better person on the enterprise, and wanted to talk more about Alexander, but by the time my comment was typed out and I hit submit the post was removed.
I’m not trying to pick a fight, it’s actually the last thing, but I’ve been honestly disappointed with how many things are removed here. Just because something isn’t positive doesn’t mean we hate star trek or even a show or character, we come to Lemmy and message boards to have a bit of fun. I thought the rules allowed some off discussions like that. If anything it shows how much we like star trek that we want to talk in depth character discussions!
Mods, an alternative I’d suggest would be to lock a post and pin a comment on why it’s locked and what rule was broken. That would help a lot of us in understanding what the rules are and why things had to be removed. When you remove a post it shows up still for us on other instances, and just says removed by mod with no explanation.
Anyway, thanks for listening

I didn’t see the content of the post, but the modlog lists the following:

Sounds like good moderation to me. Terrible title that implies an opinion is wrong and that OP was never interested in discussion at all. Talking at people isn’t talking to people.

Disagree. Unpopular opinion posts are a thing. They are exactly what that poster has done. Deleting the post saying no one cares about an unpopular opiniom is quite bad moderation unless there is a rule not to post such a type of topic.
