Underpowered by far in the one we had while I was growing up. A light breeze pushed the damn thing off the road. Plastic impeller in the coolant system that shattered and caused the damn thing to constantly overheat.
Amazingly fun van though. Insta place to sleep when visiting family.

My parents had one when I was growing up, too. Could only hit 65 with a stiff tailwind, overheated at the drop of a hat, and your knees were the crumple zones.
But damn if I didn’t make so many memories in that van. Laying in the popup on the coast of Nova Scotia with the whales singing me to sleep, piling a whole Little League team inside to wait out a rain delay, running errands on Saturday mornings with my dad while listening to Car Talk with our dog standing between us.
I’d love to get one with an engine swap. Apparently you can cram a 2.0L Ford engine in the engine bay.

A 2.5 Subie would probably work as well.

Damn I miss car talk.
