  Afaik most keepers don’t eat the ball because they don’t technically own the goal and therefore the net. It is the owner of the field who can. But it’s the self interest of the keep to keep the game playing so they won’t let the owner eat it.

  This is only my impression and might be totally wrong tho

    Well, it wouldn’t be fair if the keepers were the only ones allowed to eat them, either… There are 20 other players.
