I think it's fair to say that most people, whatever political affiliation they agree with, aren't crazy psychopaths. Having a [D] next to your name doesn't mean you automatically agree with every insane thing the far left comes up with, just as having an [R] next to your name doesn't mean you automatically agree with every insane thing the far right comes up with.
The only issue is that (and we see this with a lot of lemmy instances, unfortunately), the radicals believe that all things and all use of power in pursuit of getting what you want is just, so uses whatever scraps of power it finds to force everyone to either bend the knee or leave a bunch of common spaces.
I mean, just think about the pandemic: The so-called "far right" was expressing massive distrust of medical multinationals, advertising, and corporate media. At any other time in the past 100 years, that would make you a lefty.
