Trump warned of “severe consequences” if any teacher or other school official suggested to a child that he or she is “trapped in the wrong body.”
“They will be faced with severe consequences, including potential civil rights violations for sex discrimination and the elimination of federal funding,” he said.
Adding to his platform, Trump said he would ask Congress to pass a law recognizing only ‘male’ and ‘female’ as official genders.

Despite what Bill Nye says, there's no scientific basis for anything but there being two of the thing.
Opinion surveys aren't proof of a thing. Humans used to believe in phlogestin theory, or in the balance of the humors, or that all matter was made of earth, fire, wind, and water in different combinations. The fact that these false theories were widely accepted doesn't make them true.
