Signal will also leave the EU market before they will give their iOS Version a backup-option (something the Android version has since years). I carry a 52 GB data blob with me that takes 15 hours to transfer from old-to-new-phone and that I could lose anytime my phone gets lost. Just because Signal does not think iOS user should be able to save their data.

I marvel a bit at the 52 GB blob. Don’t you think you could maybe trim back to the past x thousand messages in your chats? Or delete some media?

I think tge decision is not because they want to hurt iOS users but because the iOS file system is extremely handicapped and the iOS cloud backup is not e2e-encrypted.

It’s sad that the EU doesn’t get how bad of an idea this is for Signal to just fully nope out of the European market.
