Chipper World

I recently created and deleted a community Chipperworld.

I do have a burgeoning interest in all things wood. The technology that is out there and available is very interesting. HOWEVER, the community was a not so tongue in cheek nod to throwing Communists into woodchippers.

I was convicted of this. Violence is not the answer. It is at best a temporary solution until they learn what lies to tell to keep themselves safe, then they start weakening and undermining everything little by little all over again.

This is a spiritual war. It always has been since Adam let Eve boss him around. Weak men create hard times indeed.

I mean I think there is a place for identifying certain behavior as being capital crime, whether they are punished capitally or not

those who take the lives of innocent children (abortion), who abuse kids, who practice certain immoral acts of lust, who were traitors or heretics, etc were committing capital crimes in the past.

I do like seeing persuasion win out though and think that was more of the early Christians' attitude towards change, of willing to suffer rather than inflict punishment, since many are sinners too in need of God's mercy

We have millennia of evidence that violence doesn't bring a lasting change. The French revolution ended in a new empire within just a few years. The Arab spring led to a much more repressive regime in Egypt.

History tells us that the answer is pushing for sustained incremental change. Constitutional monarchies resulted in the crown slowly releasing their stranglehold on the people from the time of the magna carta onwards. The American revolution didn't arise out of nothingness, it was a bunch of people from the freest society on the planet at the time taking a bit more freedom.

Real strength isn't the ability to physically harm someone. Some of the weakest people in our society are the ones most capable of bringing harm to others. Real strength rests in the ability to control things beyond yourself. Ability to control oneself, the ability to get others to do the thing you want to do, the ability to convince societies to do the things you want to do. You could have an army of 1,000 strong men and they would be powerless against a cripple in a wheelchair with real strength.
