The idea that the existence of humanity is evil and we need to let ourselves go extinct for the good of the planet is literally genocidal. I do think there's probably too many people for the long run and as the fossil fuel energy subsidy becomes more and more difficult we're going to have to change the way we live (and arguably we already are, but for certain bleeding heart types and other sociopathic profit seeking types), but the process of writing The Graysonian Ethic and talking about the history of humanity and my family really helped me realize that we are the sum of our ancestors. We have lessons written into our bodies by a continuous line of winners going back billions of years. Looking at our existence in such a light, I don't believe you can look at such a thing, a continuous line of your ancestors, and not consider it a little selfish to just say "I don't wanna" and end the family line there. I'm glad I was able to have a son.

The planet can support a lot more than what we have. No reason to avoid having kids at all. The population will likely be cut in half in 100 years anyway.

The planet can support way more people if we keep using our fossil fuel subsidy, but let's say the greenies got their way and fossil fuels were banned tomorrow, it'd be genocidal. We rely so much on that packed up energy that we don't realize how much we rely on it. That's where it's going to get more and more difficult over time because it'll get harder and harder to access that energy.
