The reason we focus on the transgressions of the left is that they're in powerful places. Within my lifetime we did the same towards the right because they were the ones in powerful places. I expect things will eventually change and we'll have to once again cast the light upon the right.

Power corrupts. Part of that corruption manifests as letting extremists into power structures because they are "one of ours". Eventually, even if "we" win, the most evil and extreme will get into positions of power, forcing "us" to leave "we" behind. Thus it is important to be true to ourselves rather to some external movement.

I fully expect another paradigm shift within my lifetime. Before I pass on, I'll be back to complaining about the excesses of the right once again, just as I complain today about the excesses of the left, just as I used to complain about the excesses of the right.

  I'm pretty surprised at the nazi growth i've seen recently. Maybe because i've been deeper into the alt tech scene.
  
  I want honest debate and conversation around hard topics. And people here have made intelligent polite conversations around the benefits of mono-cultures which are much less offensive than the left telling white people they don't deserve to live because of something someone did 400 years ago.
  
  I also don't want wolfballs to be storm front. I'm not censoring anything but these nazi types should really set up their own instance.

    I've come to realize that the price of admission for true free speech is going to be seeing things that I don't agree with, often viscerally.
    
    I don't think that these ideologies are growing, but I think that we are all being pushed into sharing spaces with extremists of all kinds because they don't have any other place to be. As we are pushed into smaller spaces by the establishment, those smaller spaces were already occupied in many cases by people who were previously pushed out of establishment spaces, so I think that's what we're looking at here.
    
    I do think that some previously unthinkable ideas are becoming less taboo because of the absolute incompetence of certain people who push against those unthinkable ideas. A fascistic totalitarian defense of such ideas stupidly discredits them.

  I thought it was funny. I literally didn't delete a single post related to the topic. Its a purely moral virtue signaling stance. I didn't compromise any free speech values. You gotta build your house on a rock and folks like that aren't a rock. I'm not worried about the negative press.

I think a lot of us were just "spoiled" with the wild west of the internet from however many years ago

and also with the more libertarian culture that existed

so like when I was more of a left libertarian, they were for free speech absolutism as they thought nazi arguments could be defeated with kindness and facts

so like punks like sid vicious of the sex pistols woukd wear swastikas as kind of a shock value of being free to "say whatever"

and also because so many cringe leftists have made out being a nazi to be the worst tgjng ever, while communism has been more lethal, this has made it kind of fun to align with nazis or larp as a a nazi to trigger them

plus with the internet certain myths of nazis being the worst are easy to debunk and this emboldens people to want to be literal nazis more

a lot of the nazis I see online really strike me as being within the "conservatarian" spectrum, some of them I doubt would want to be subject to authority and thus are more libertarian in practice, and some have experienced benefits from capitalism and I doubt would actually support socialism as much. So, I don't know where some people stand in practice.

Regarding the other post, you can just make the best decisions you believe in for the site. I have enjoyed posting so thank you. Obviously if someone ends up having a problem they can start something up or go elsewhere like to one of the conpro boards.
