To be honest, he is a democrat, but he's done an awful lot to stymie Biden's bills like removing Fillibuster or killing Build back better, till the midterms come and clean up the mess.

I don't know what bill you are talking about regarding tax increases

So I found your article. It says its based on an Axios article:

        https://www.axios.com/manchin-outlines-bbb-deal-requirements-723696b5-c602-42ef-907c-fcf08bab96f6.html

"Manchin’s private comments... are a clear indication he’s serious.... for a smaller version of President Biden's $3.5 trillion proposal, people familiar with the matter tell Axios."

So, the source is someone who claims to have heard him.

"....his office is reviewing new legislative proposals. That may be an indication he's serious..."

Again, not a comment from Manchin, rather people guessing his intentions.

If he votes for $1 Trillion tax hike, he is 100% an asshoe, but, he hasn't, nor has he said he will. Let's not jump on the rumor bandwagon. Journalists are not known for telling the truth these days

What's the 1 Trillion hike ? Sorry, haven't paid attention to domestic politics since the war. I guess that was the intention.

This is a point I diverge from Republicans.

The US needs to be paying much, much, much more taxes. I started sounding the alarm bells when the federal debt was 8 trillion dollars and today it is over 30 trillion. Many of these Trillions belong to one Donald Trump, who spent more in 4 years than Obama spent in 8.

You don't get to just cut taxes without doing any of the hard work. That's like having your dessert before having your dinner. The hard work is saying to people "Sorry, you don't get these government programs. We can't afford this spending", and actually cutting spending, then after you're done you say "Thank you for your sacrifices, we've balanced the budget and now we can cut taxes."

Its a mixed picture on Donald's spending. Look at budget by year:

      https://www.crfb.org/sites/default/files/2019BudgetDeal2.jpg

2010 Obama lost the House to Tea party. Republicans then made deep cuts to the budget, by forcing Govt shutdowns on debt ceiling. 2011 - 2016 are good years for govt spending. Nothing to do with Obama.

2009 and 2010, are real Obama spending, in the name of beating 2008 recession. I was watching the whole debate live, on various bailouts, infrastructure and Obamacare bills. 2010 spending is higher than what Donald spent on Covid stimulus in 2020, even though Covid was a far bigger hit than 2008 recession.

Donald's budget in 2017 seems rather tame. I don't know why 2018/19 are so high, perhaps due to his tax cuts ?Surprisingly his 2020 budget is not much higher than 2019

The 2021 estimation is flat out wrong, considering the 3 Trillion+ in spending Biden did at the start. All sources, including Congressional Budget office have not included these figures (they are from max July 2021). 2021 should increase spending by at least 50%

I think they should go back to 2000 levels, before the whole War on Terror, NSA surveillance state nonsense. But, that's never going to happen.
