Ooh, more excitement! I was taking the rubbish out, and when I walked past the meter I got a faint whiff of gas. I had to do a quadruple take, and I can definitely smell gas, but itās really faint and doesnāt seem overwhelming. I googled wth Iām meant to do and it was all very keen on stressing that gas leaks should be reported to the distributor ASAP
So I called and they said that because itās minor I should shut off the leak and theyāll log a job after 7. Iāve got dishes, mopping, and a load of washing to do before I go to sleep, and our hot water is gas powered, so Iām not super keen about not having gas tonight. Ugh, I hate gas

You can test for leaks with dish soap over the joins and pipes around the meter. Some meters Iāve seen with a regulator (grey metal spaceship thing) looks to have a vent. Thereās a few houses I walk past that have a gas smell, I reported it ages ago and nothing happened. When I got the meter removed, the steel supply pipe had degraded and was leaking once capped so they needed to dig up the nature strip.

Looks to be what Iām about to do. I did mention on the phone I have some things Iād like to do, but they just called me back to say that their crew said ānoā and will not come out until after 7, but that Iāll be the first job and donāt have to be awake, but that if Iām not and donāt answer the door or phone, I probably wonāt find out if thereās anything wrong
Ah well, Iām getting tired now anyway and have run out of steam. I do want a hot shower tomorrow though
