celsiustimeline@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 days agoGreat film, aged SUPER poorly. They act as if lesbian women are a different species, and it still revolves around Ben Affleck being a whiny bitch over a girl he thinks he’s entitled to. I would cringe if I was Kevin Smith revisiting Chasing Amy.

Kevin Smith has even come out saying the movie didn’t age well, but that some of the concepts the movie was discussing didn’t have a vocabulary for them. It probably also wasn’t ideal for a heteronormative white guy to be the writer-director.
But the movie got made and it tried to have a good faith argument of what was being discussed and trying to have that conversation at that time was probably better for the LGBT+ community than not.
