Comment on After 23 years he finally admits it

Instinctively downvoted Meloncuck’s face. His fans are without a doubt the worst force in the music community. I’ll take a hundred Swifties before I have to deal with another Fantano stan trying to talk about fucking Carly Rae Jepsen with me in the pit before a show starts. Awful. Awful. Awful.

Music is art and it’s more subjective than books, movies and video games, but him and his fanboys act like there is an objective truth to the criticism they provide.

How is music more subjective than other arts? Honest question. And yes I’ll go look up the definition of subjective. I think I know but like a great many word I’ve probably relied on context clues for far to long.

I’m bad with words so maybe someone can explain this better than I can. If a movie is a thriller and the plot twist is too obvious then the movie is kinda ruined for most. Or if a video game has levels that are too easy then it might not be fun for most people. Same kinds of examples are very rare for music, like “the song is too repetitive”, Daft Punk has sold out on just that premise, “the band plays the same four notes”, that’s literally 90% of pop songs and I love them. Basically it’s easier to come up with bullet points when criticizing movies and video games.

I think what they mean is that music has a wider range where it’s still “functional” for most people. Basically, more liberties can be taken with music than with storytelling mediums without people rejecting it.
