When there are not unlimited workers, it is easier to get a job.
However, that means incompetents rise because there is no one to displace them.

What I see is that as it becomes more difficult to get a job, jobs become political. You give jobs to your friends, to your family, to your allies, they're a thing of value you can use to get more power. I see it a lot in the skilled trades. There's virtually no apprenticeships out there, so the few positions are extremely valuable, so this rare and valuable thing is hoarded and traded.
As the worker market gets tighter and tighter, the political crap tends to fall away, and companies start having to hire politically undesirable qualified candidates

They can't do that, the way laws are designed, since they must make a workplace friendly to diversity.

They can and they do. Companies want you to think they're just dust in the wind being blown one way or another by the fickle winds of fate, but the fact is they're fully capable of doing whatever they want, and they want to pretend they need diversity because it helps prevent workers from organizing because they're too busy fighting each other.

Not correct. It's written into law that they must do it or risk lawsuits and seizure of their business.
