Comment on Please fix Rule 1.
TheLurker@lemmy.world 1 year agoYour input is intriguing but delusional.
Do you seriously expect the admins to keep track of all laws in all countries?
In fact let me simplify. Using your logic of the admins “defining” what is legal and what is not, all posts are now forbidden because they probably break some law in some country.
You do realise that the world is bigger and more complex than your local town right?
Rule 1 exists to help admins justify decisions like this in order to help protect them from law suits. THE END!

The admins were using the legal staus of shrooms in other countries (besides their own) as a justification for removing the community. Ok, cool. Now apply that reasoning fairly across other communities.
Clarifying a point is not hard and they do get very specific with other rules as well, if you haven’t read them. They could easily say that drug trade on lemmy.world is forbidden. Easy.
Also, chill with the ad hominem arguments. Trying to use insults to prove yourself correct just makes you look like the jackass.
Again, I don’t think you understand the full scope of the points I am making. I understand your points, but they are just bad ones.

Literally there are admins from multiple countries.
You don’t know what country the service is hosted in.
The admins made a decision, precisely because they felt this was a risk to them.
Don’t like it, then spin up your own instance, host whatever content you like and get a good lawyer.
As I pointed out in my original post. Everyone in this thread is a free speech absolutist, but let’s see how that conviction holds against a lawsuit.
