The ones that ate non-food things died.
The ones that ate eggs lived and passed on their genes.

most eggs, most of the time
those that ate rotten eggs died
those that at eggs cracked but not eaten in a period which would later be suggested by the food and drug administration for safe storing temperatures for eggs died
