ef9357@lemmy.sdf.org 4 weeks agoAs a woman, I will say that I consider myself blessed that i found a man that not only had basic electrical, mechanical, and plumbing knowledge; but also was willing to share that knowledge with me. Now I can do basic handyman stuff.

I moved into a house where a person with “basic electrical skills” lived and there are so many fire hazards and death traps. I wish electrical assistance was cheaper so people doesn’t mess with that. It was an old partner to the person I moved in with and she was upset that I hired an electrician to redo quite alot[
Not anything against your skills, the phrase just reminded me of my former home :P

Agreed, and any major work is done by a licensed electrician, but replacing an outlet or switch is completely doable with training and safety measures.
