Also, you’re on the internet, which isn’t beholden solely to US copyright laws
It’s illegal in the US and either way it’s against lemmy.world’s server rules, specifically rule 1
No illegal content, including sharing copyrighted material without the explicit permission of the owner(s).
I think you’re defending it because you’re a pirate.

Torrent files do not contain any copyrighted material.

You’re arguing semantics here because you know that I’m right, a torrent doesn’t literally contain a movie file, but it is used to fetch the copyrighted movie file. It makes you look bad when you make these stupid flaky arguments just because you want to keep access to your filthy pirate site. You’re not even on lemmy.world how does this concern you at all?
(PS I already messaged Lemm.ee admins about this issue, they’re looking into it.)
