The whole New Atheist movement and cries of cultural xtianity came about because of fears about Islam. They were appealing to a particular audience.
Ah that, I guess that explains shit like Harris literally demanding a pre-emptive nuclear strike against Islam in his book The End of Faith
Whole thing was still cringe and I’m glad it seems to have lost in the end.
