I'm both economically and socially pretty far left but I agree completely. Class solidarity is what matters and I'm in support of the truckers 100%. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills sometimes when I see how much vitriol is directed at people who neither want nor need a relatively new medical treatment.
There's a post on here that days "wolfballs is not a right wing website" where a lot of us express that what we're here for is freedom, not to end up in an echo chamber of political ideologies we all agree with.
There are plenty of places out there with political monoculture, and they're boring. Honest discussion, especially when we have quite different points of view, is a way for everyone to seek a better truth.
I'm really glad to hear that. I was a little worried the Lemmy servers would end up like voat did, as not an better alternative but just the banned user dumping ground. Doesn't seem to be that way though, everyone seems very welcoming. Can't wait to learn more about this platform.
We are also not all American, which is useful because "right" and "left" manifest slightly diffetently in different parts of the world.

Hey since you're here and I'm new, I have a question about Lemmy that searching ddg didn't help me with. I notice the commenter above you is from a different instance, but commenting on this instance. I can't comment on lemmy.ml posts in my feed from this account though. Is this because of some difference in the configuration of your instances? Like you allow external posters and they don't, or they blocked you specifically, or what?
Yeah they blocked us. We can't censor like they want us to. Their federation terms of service bans words like gay, retard, and they ban anyone saying vaccines aren't the most effective medication and therapy no exceptions ever.
While I want people of any race, sexuality, religion or lifestyle as a user, the freedom to communicate freely with what ever language a poster or commenter feels needed is central to the experience I hosted wolfballs for.
You can make an account with them or one of their other federated instances. Lemmur is pretty good at showing multiple instances. I'm making a new app that should be ready this year sometime too.
Thanks for the explanation! I love your take on the situation. And even though I don't agree with lemmy.ml's stance I think it's nice that they're allowed to run their site however they want, too. I just found out about these federated services recently and they're so exciting. It feels like maybe, if we all spread the word and participate, maybe we'll get some semblance of old-internet culture back. The monolithic service model is awful and I can't wait to see it go.

I would say human solidarity is the most important thing. The UN declatation on human rights is being trampled on by various groups which don't neatly fit a "wing" or a "class". As i see it, they are simply selfish transhumanist ideologues, or "the cyborg cult". I've heard it called "neosocialism" or technocratic cryptofascism. When many of us say "the left", that's what we mean. The term "right wing" is often used by the bodysnatchers as a cryptonym for evil. Thank fuck for 4chan and memes for retaliating.

I agree that they don't neatly fit a wing, or any narrow political belief, but the people who have the power to trample your rights are the rich and powerful. We're certainly not in the same class as Bezos, Musk, Zuckerberg, etc. That's the true divide - their interests are diametrically opposed to ours in almost all areas.
I agree with you and the other commenter down below actually - I don't know if using descriptions by "wing" is really effective. To clarify, I'm working class, fairly low income, and I think a lot of the services we run as for-profit enterprises shouldn't be, and should be managed by a competent state. I guess that's what I mean when I say "left wing" broadly speaking, but I should've been more specific in the first place, what with how they intentionally muddy the waters and break up our ability to communicate effectively.
But anyway, we're all in agreement that the truckers have a right to strike, and that's the important thing here and now!

You sound English. Think of Brexit voters in Sunderland, a place that gave the Jarrow march, it hasn't changed much, but the UK Labour Party has. In America, the equivalent is the Rust Belt MAGA voter. In Canada, the Albertan trucker. Aus and NZ have their equivalents too.
I am of working class but through education and work have a more ambiguous "class" status.
One thing i think is lacking in school is true understanding of economics, finance, and what money actually is.
States are not competent.
Profit is essential.
Money is a representation of energy. it is tiny slivers pf the economy. Tradeable contracts, promises to do future work. Price is information about the economy and where to allocate resources. The reason why socialist states fail is because they eliminate this information from rhe economy, so everyone is in the dark, and value is determined by non-economic factors, which facilitate nefarious acts.
Its reasonable to describe Nazism as "left wing", because it is a form of collectivism where citizens are the property of the state. Hence when you look at CCP China, or DPR Korea, you see fascism in the fiorm of "communism". Actual fascism is a left-wing ideology, because left-wing is about control far more than it is about freedom, and the opposite is true for the right. The confusion comes in the playing with words where social conservatism is conflated with "political cobswrvatism" (actually often a misnomer for libertarianism for "classical liberals") and "economic conservatism" or rather "capitalism", when in fact there isn't much capitalisma any more like in the age of robber barons and a real gold standard; the world has become a creditist system in stages through the 20th century, until things went a bit wrong on August 9th 2007. We've been delaying the inevitable collapse of the China-US ponzi scheme until about now .. maybe after interest rate hikes in March.
I bet you that much of what you believe about the world will change as the year unfolds.
