Comment on Should I *GASP* create a reddit account so I can get support from Tuta(nota)?

I might have a similar problem. I was not using their desktop apps for some weeks, but I updated recently after they released a totally new app on mac os (different name so now I have two apps, ok) which I think is related to their name change. Since then, I can’t login in the new (or old) desktop app no matter what (the error was some connection issue I believe). Haven’t reached out to support yet but it seems they are having some troubles in the transition?

I’m not sure what’s going on with them. I really like Tuta, I really do, but I feel that they often overpromise and underdeliver to a certain extent (not that I should be one to talk 🙄). I think part of the problem is that they don’t have enough staff. Something like quantum-proof encryption is nice, but it’s not ever going to be something that I notice as being useful. I’ve been waiting on TutaDrive, TutaNotes and similar things for quite some time now, and many other features that have been languishing on their roadmap for I don’t know how long.
Well, what they told me to do, when they did finally answer me the last time, was to remove my stored account from the client and then add it back again. What didn’t work for me might work for you. I even deleted all the app data and reinstalled it, but that didn’t seem to help. In an earlier message they seemed to think the problem had something to do with IPv6 (?) even though (I think) I’m on IPv4. Do you use a VPN? If so that might also have something to do with it.
I am looking elsewhere for email at this point, but the problem is is that they have a set of features that no other provider seems to be able to match. A comparable service will have everything they do except for something like custom domains, or it’s not open source, or has no calendar, or whatever. When they changed to “Tuta” I stupidly upgraded my account so that I could get a tuta.com domain (though it would be fun, but never use it) and so now I’m paying $15 (!) a month (I need to be on that tier since it was the only one that had email templates, which I do use). I think if I had stayed on one of their “legacy plans” or whatever, I believe they said that they would continue to honor it, and not force me to upgrade or pay more than I already was. Caveat emptor, as always.

Yeah frrr tbh. Like their competitors offer more services in comparison and automatic encryption that doesn’t force you to use a password everytime you want to encrypt your mail etc.
