Yeah, if they could make Bombay compatible 5-star negative marrow in a lab, that would be nice. There would be next to no need to type and crossmatch then.
This study wasn't perfect, but it is a step forward. I mean, they didn't filter creatinine out of the patient's body, and it is possible that transplanting them damaged them due to blood pressure differences between hogs and humans. But at least there were no signs of rejection. I have a feeling they'd need to change a few more genes to make the xeno-kidneys better able to withstand human blood pressures.

Right. I wonder if it excreted absolute 0 or if it was low. Did the kidneys filter creatinine in the hogs ? Very interesting that it would filter out other salts and urea but not creatinine.
Its been 3 or 4 months since then. I wonder if they will publish biopsies of the organ so researchers can work out some theories why this is happening.
