bemenaker@lemmy.world 11 months agoJust because you don’t use a truck for it’s full capabilities everyday doesn’t mean you don’t have a valid reason to own it. That argument is ridiculously stupid. I live in the Midwest where you will find the most trucks. I know many truck owners. And almost everyone one of them has a truck to pull a trailer with, be it a boat or an RV. Can some SUVs do that, yes, but not all. And the ones that can, get even worse gas mileage.

With the current climate situation, I’m not so sure some people driving giant inefficient vehicles around all the time because they occasionally haul a boat or RV is a privilege humanity can afford. Rentals are a thing. I’ve never looked it up but I’m sure there’s boat moving services that will move them from marina to marina (or your yard). They’d probably still save money using those services or rentals because of how much cheaper cars generally are (though not all of them, Porsches are also pretty bad for fuel efficiency and are usually even more expensive than a full-size truck, and yes, after learning that I’m not opposed to getting them off the streets too).
