Comment on Tim Sweeney Is Still Crying About Steam AI Disclosures
Krudler@lemmy.world 6 days agoValve is the big meanie that continues to give their customers more value, and they heavily invest in research and development which benefits the consumer. Steam link, steam controller, steam deck, Proton… all of these were part of Valve’s sinister plan to continue serving customers.
This concept stands in the way of Epic’s business model, which does not include giving value to customers, they just see games as a commodity like wheat.

Steam Frame is an awesome piece of kit too.

I’m talking about the service/products that Valve makes that expands the value of what they offer, whether you buy something new or not.
Steam link let you take your entire Library to a different location to stream… It brought the PC experience to the couch (and you did not need their dedicated hardware, you could use your own hardware and their app). The Deck makes your entire Library portable and you do not have to repurchase. Family sharing lets you give your games to friends for nothing. Proton brings almost everything to Linux.
Although the frame is a fine product and people love it, it’s not what I’m really talking about. It is a very fine doodad but it does not belong on the same shelf as the other customer service achievements that I’m crediting Valve.

The frame also does this.
They also developed Steam VR to work with other headsets, not just the frame (or index, or vibe)
If the deck is relevant to the discussion, frame is just as relevant, and none of the words you typed seem to suggest otherwise.

You like your steam frame. Got it.
