I just had a flashback to a place I worked at where this guy who was a client was an “author” that wrote the worst drivel that was all about the stuff his shitty James Bond ripoff carried around. It sounded like the whole first half of this, entirely unironically.

The guy got fucking published. Or paid someone to publish his shit. He would send us paperback copies of his books. Most of a paragraph about a Walther PPK (the gun you start with in GoldenEye is the only reason I remember) when he could have just said “an easy to conceal pistol” is where I drew the line.
